Sundays at PHBC

Sunday School

At 9:00 AM, we gather in various classes designed for all ages to love the Lord with our mind as we learn about Him. Classes are generally expository teaching, theological instruction, or topical/application studies.

Sunday Morning

Every Sunday morning at 10:15 AM, we gather to worship the Risen Lord Jesus as we sing, pray, and preach the Word of God. Here are some things you can expect when you visit:

Scripture Reading

“Devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture” (1 Tim 4:13)

Since worship is always a response to God’s self-revelation, our services prioritize the public reading of God’s Word.

Congregational Singing

“Speak to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your hearts to the Lord” (Eph 5:19)

Our priority for the church’s music is to sing rich, doctrinal truths in a way that invites all to participate. We sing a conservative mixture of older and modern hymns, generally accompanied by a piano, organ, orchestra, or other instruments.

Prayer

“I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men” (1 Tim 2:1)

During our services we depend upon the Lord in all things through public prayer, for our service, congregational needs, missionary requests, global needs, and most of all, our own hearts.

Giving

“On the first day of the week, let each one of you lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper.” (1 Cor 16:2)

During our gathering, we worship the Lord through cheerful and willing giving. If you are visiting with us, please do not feel any need to contribute. If you would prefer to give online, you are able to do so here.

Expositional Preaching

“Preach the Word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.” (2 Tim 4:2)

Our worship service centers around the expository preaching of God’s Word, in which a biblical passage is accurately explained and relevantly applied to encourage believers to grow in grace by the Spirit and unbelievers to respond in faith to Jesus Christ.

Observing Ordinances

“For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.” (1 Cor 11:26)

We regularly observe the two ordinances of communion and baptism committed to the Church by our Lord. Those who have trusted in Christ, His death, and resurrection, and are walking in consistent fellowship with Him are welcome to join as we remember our Lord’s death in communion. We practice baptism by immersion to make public declaration of an individual’s faith in Christ.

During the AM service, there is childcare available for children up to 3rd grade. Children K-3rd grade will be dismissed during the service. All children are welcome to attend!

Sunday Evening

We gather again on Sundays at 6 PM to continue our worship with a simplified service. We continue to prioritize the communication of the Word and the congregational singing of God’s people.
